About one third of Holland (meaning “hollow land”) is below sea level. Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport is built in the middle of a former lake. Flevoland, which is also reclaimed from sea, is on average 8 metres below sea level. A mould is made of “a hole in the ground”, somewhere in the Netherlands. From the mould, a perfect replica of the hole is produced in ceramics.
